The Iveco group controlled by FIAT was founded in 1975. It is an Italian company whose headquarters are in Turin. Iveco specializes in the production of vans, trucks, military and engines.
The history of the Iveco brand
The Iveco group was founded in 1975 by combining truck production departments of several companies: FIAT Veicoli Industriali (production of lorries from 1903), Lancia Veicoli Industriali (from 1911), OM (Italy, from 1907), Unic (France) , from 1905) and Magirus-Deutz AG (KHD, Germany, from 1904). In 1980, FIAT took over the remaining shares. In 1986, the company took over the factory producing Ford trucks in Great Britain. In 1987, Iveco took over the Italian company Astra specializing since 1954 in the production of heavy tippers and special cars. In 1990, the Spanish company Pegaso was taken over (from 1947), renamed IVECO Pegaso, and the British company Seddon Atkinson (from 1910) that produces special versions of trucks. In 1992, the Australian branch of the American international group, operating since 1950, was taken over.
In Poland, Iveco Sp.A represents “Iveco Poland Sp. z o.o. “. In the years 1995-1999, the models of this company were assembled in Poland. They were, among others models: Iveco Daily (established in 1996-1999) and Iveco Eurocargo. This was done by Fiat Auto Poland and “Servipol” from Poznań. In 1998, a total of 1809 pieces of these models were assembled.
